Our client, a leading financial services company, has an immediate opening for a Bilingual Group Disability Claims Specialist to join their Group Life & Disability Claims Department with the option to work remotely.


Role Description:


The successful candidate will report to the Manager, Life & Disability Claims, and will provide personalized service and support to our clients’ plan sponsors and members. This individual should have a passion for helping people, and should exhibit strong customer service, communication and problem-solving skills.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Analyze medical, functional, employment and contractual Information in order to make timely and accurate decisions on Long Term Disability (LTD) claims
  • Continually manage open LTD claims using proficient problem solving, analytical and negotiation skills
  • Calculate benefits payable and make adjustments as required throughout the course of the LTD claims. (i.e. offset for rehabilitation earnings and CPP Disability Benefits and calculating overpayments, etc.)
  • Identify and implement cost effective case management tools to assist disabled employees (e.g. Rehabilitation Intervention, Functional Abilities Evaluations, Independent Medical Examinations, Medical Consultant Referrals)
  • Provide superior written and verbal customer service, and actively participate in client meetings
  • Maintain well-documented, clear and concise files
  • Frequently communicate with plan sponsors, plan members, advisors, Group Marketing Managers, medical professionals, legal professionals


Your Qualifications:


  • University degree or College Diploma preferred in health-related field (i.e. nursing, occupational therapy, kinesiology, etc.) or experience adjudicating disability claims
  • 2+ years LTD claims management and adjudication experience
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written
  • STD claims management experience an asset
  • Thorough knowledge of Insurance operations and group contracts
  • Proficient problem-solving skills
  • Effective negotiating and conflict management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong customer service skills
